MIKE's a mysterious creature. Proudly hailing from the northern half of England, yet masquerading as a Scot, sightings are rare. Many an intrepid traveler has heard his haunting rendition of Bonnie Tyler bouncing of the Royal Mile's picturesque walls and been lured to their doom. A whirlwind of tales, tours and total mayhem, the Mike is equally at home spinning yarns of grave-robbers, explaining the delicate process of haggis-making, or shouting 'SKULL IIIIIIIT!' at the top of his oversized lungs. Many have trodden the pub crawl route in search of answers yet few have found them. Even less can remember.

ALAN may look and sound a bit like a pi rate, but he considers himself a proud Scotsman. Despite growing up in England, he has many connections to the city of Edinburgh, his mum was born here and his dad used to guard the castle. After living all over Europe, Alan arrived here five years ago and has no intention of ever leaving again. He even wrote a book, A Grim Almanac of Edinburgh, which you can find in bookshops all over town, and he may write another one. He is also a successful stand-up comedian who has performed at top clubs all over the country, and runs a comedy night in the city every Monday. When he’s not doing those things he likes climbing big mountains, watching rugby and getting extraordinarily competitive at pub quizzes. Really, it’s a scary experience and best avoided.

ANDRA came to Edinburgh from Canada during the Festival 2008, and is currently studying to become a High School Drama teacher. She wants to stay, having fallen in love with the city a mere two hours after getting off the plane! With a degree in both History and Drama, she loves that she uses both elements when giving tours, and also loves meeting people from all over the world. She is currently working of being able to sing some of the stops on the tour, rather than just speaking them. When not guiding, she can often be found perfecting her puppet skills using the Avenue Q soundtrack!

SETH's first experience of Edinburgh was taking the train as a young child and going to the zoo, that was a long time ago. Now thanks to privatisation the journey between Edinburgh and Durham (Seth's home town) is not one to be jumped on lightly, thats what he tells his parents anyway. By day Seth may be a upstanding tour guide but after night falls, Seth roams the theatres of Edinburgh reviewing/slamming productions. When the Queen comes to Edinburgh, Seth will be polishing her silverware. Seth has a masters in philosophy from the University of St Andrews, while not philosophising, he acted, improvised (comedy) and got the late Sir Clement Freud elected rector. 2009 will be Seth's 6th time at the Edinburgh festivals, he is peeing himself in anticipation.

RONNIE From Aberdeen, one of the more northerly parts of this fair nation, Ronnie came to Edinburgh to study a masters in Film Production. Bored with waiting for Tarantino to call, Ronnie decided to turn his hand to a bit of tour guiding. “Being a tour guide is much more interesting than working in a bar,” quips Ronnie, “cause you get to meet the same kind of people you would meet in a bar, but you know this time they’re not just after your beer!”. A genuine, bona fide Scottish gent, if you get Ronnie, you’re in for a wee treat.

IZZY Usually from the great state of Illinois, Izzy took a year off from work life to pursue a master’s degree in popular music in Liverpool (this basically amounts to non-stop reading about and listening to music and consuming ridiculous amounts of tea, not a bad life, really). Under the guise of 'student' she affirmed what many in her homeland feared: she was not done with Britain. In the last few years she’s toured extensively around the UK and Europe but it is Edinburgh that calls her back. When she’s not travelling or plugged into a stereo, Izzy is busy sharing her love of all things Edinburgh with just about anyone who will listen and making friends with people from all around the world.

MARK To paraphrase Akon, he's nothing like a tour guide you've ever seen before...Mark fled England when he realised that walking down the road in an undersized kilt wasn't always appropriate there. A history student, Mark is always fascinated to uncover yet another one of his relatives appearing in the history of 16th century Edinburgh, usually in the court records. When not running down the Royal Mile training for the Edinburgh marathon, Mark enjoys writing poetry. Thus, it is a pleasant surprise this biography doesn't rhyme. (Perhaps he didn't have the time).

JAMES Performance. Pubs. People. The three loves of James' life. In that order. Coming from a town where dark pubs are usually replaced by sunny beach side bars (Portugal), it was only logical that James should move to an equally picturesque, but far more rainy city. And Edinburgh would seem to be the ideal place. Happily running all three tours newEdinburgh has to offer, when not showing tourists round the most beautiful city in Britain (in his own opinion), James is pursuing his other life ambition: To wow the world with a piece of performance art involving a bathtub containing his humble self beautifully encased in perfectly set jelly (apparently!). Other than this, James enjoys trumpets, mischief and lots of fun. A home-made recipe for an excellent tour.

KATE Kate, wonderful lovely Kate. This half pint arrived in Edinburgh from Eastern Canada in 2005. She is bubbly, bouncy and always has a smile on her face. Don't let her size fool you however, innocent she may look, but as we all know looks can be deceiving. After studying History and Literature at university she has made Scotland her passion and plans to conquer it one tour at a time. She can often been found roaming the streets of Edinburgh fascinating people with tales of its History, or by night unleashing her darker side on our ghost tour! Do you believe in faeries? Kate does, but don't worry with a quick faerie self defense lesson she ensures that no ghosts have been created on her tours...yet!

MICHAEL Despite being born in Kirkcaldy, Michael has 100% Italian blood coursing through his veins. Always armed with a full-faced smile, his vivacious tour guide stylings have amused and charmed many a traveler in equal measures. Studying Ancient History at Edinburgh, Michael combines his love of years gone by with a passion for performance to give a tour that really cannot be forgotten.

OWEN Well what is there to say about Owen? Crazy, nuts, incredibly attractive? All of the above is the right answer. He hails from the cold winter waste land of the Canadian prairies. After studying zoology he decided to explore the world. For the last 4 years he has been in Europe not being able to find a way out. Deciding that Edinburgh was the place to be he has set up camp and is looking forward to the festival season so he can really let his wild side out. you will never forget a tour with Owen.

RUTH moved to Edinburgh 2 years ago up from the small town of Solihull near Birmingham! She is studying Drama and Theatre Arts at Queen Magarets University which is situated in the seaside town of Musselburgh. She loves all things theatre and you will often find her viewing the latest shows, drinking in the theatre bars and singing along to her favourite musicals, much to the annoyance of her friends! She also loves a bit of karaoke and open-mic and can often be caught, guitar in hand, writing and adapting tunes! Ruth loves working as a tour guide as the quirky telling of facts and stories is one of her favourite past times! She also likes piña coladas and getting caught in the rain! Which is handy in Scotland because it rains... a lot!

DAVID , made in Spain, llego a Edimburgo hace un año y se enamoro de esta ciudad. Estudio la Diplomatura de Turismo porque siempre quiso ser guia turistico y aqui su sueño se hizo realidad. Es un personaje nocturno por lo que es un experto de la fiesta en Edimburgo pero ademas le fascina tanto esta increible ciudad que se dedica en su tiempo libre a conocer cada rincon (y cada bar) organizando excursiones con el resto de guias, asi que cuando hagais el tour con el os dara tanta informacion y recomendaciones sobre la ciudad que no tendreis otro remedio que ampliar vuestra estancia... o volver de nuevo (hay leyendas que cuentan que muchas turistas vuelven exclusivamente para verlo a el). Haz el tour con el y no querras hacerlo con nadie mas!

ISARD Un trotamundos... Después de licenciarse en filosofía en Barcelona decide explorar nuevos horizontes.
