We believe in supporting our local communities and are committed to giving a voice to self-employed guides who have chosen Edinburgh as their home. By ensuring that every native English speaking guide represents our unique style of mixing history and story-telling while maintaining their own personality and flair, we’ve become one of the most popular tour companies in the world. Helping superb independent guides connect with thousands of travelers a day, we provide these local freelancers the possibility to inform and entertain you, and they employ us to spread the news about this great concept.
The answer is simple: because the informed, entertaining, and unforgettable guides on our Free Tours work on a tips-only basis, the highest quality is guaranteed! They’ll never pressure you to tip – even though the guides receive no compensation from our host cities for the free tours they provide. We believe that if money is given, it should be voluntary and in direct proportion to the quality of the tour and the budget of the traveler. Even though our guides appreciate tips, your applause means so much more, and we’re happy to welcome you as our guest!
On this 3-hour walking tour we cover all of the main sights of the Old Town of Edinburgh. Our unique style of combining history with pure showmanship has made us one of the most popular walking tour companies in all of Europe and created a new style of guiding we call ‘info-tainment’.

GHOSTS & GRAVEYARDS: THE ORIGINAL EXPERIENCE. Why visit a cellar that distills grain when you can visit a truly haunted vault where unsettled spirits dwell? On this tour you’ll find no fake stories, no men in wolf masks: Edinburgh’s true history is scary enough.
Our guides aren’t psychics; they’re not even especially superstitious. However, there is no denying that things aren’t quite what they seem in this city famous for witch burning, grave robbing, body snatching, and mysterious murders. We go to the most haunted sites in perhaps all of Europe whilst passing through the shadowed vaults that were once plagued with death and decay. The un-avenged corpses of murder victims found here were sold to the anatomists...
On this 1.5 hour tour we cover the prevailing haunted tales and eerie sites, including:
• Calton Hill & the Old Calton Cemetery
• Witch Trials and the site of Witch Burnings
• The Netherport and the corpses of warding
• Legendary Entrance to the Faerie World
• Edinburgh’s Cannibals and Vampires
• Holyrood Palace & the Murder of
Mary Queen of Scots’ lover
• Pagan Ruins and Celtic Mythology
• The best view of the Old Town
• Arthur’s Seat and the mystery of the 17 Doll Coffins
• Vaults of the South Bridge
Everyone gets their own flashlight to keep the shadows away!
The Ghost Tour meets EVERYNIGHT at 9:30 pm in front of the Starbucks Café by the Tron Kirk on the High Street
*The Ghost Tour will have an alternate route on April 30th, but will still run regardless of Beltane.

THE NEW EDINBURGH PARKS AND PALACES TOUR
£20 adults
£18 students
Tues Fri Sat & Sun at 11am
Tucked away at the bottom of the Royal Mile is the Auld District ofHolyrood. Proud, beautiful and symbolic, this epicentre of Scottish Rule has been the ticking heart of Scotland’s capital for centuries. However, no amount of history or prestige can even compare it to the majestic Arthur’s Seat - an extinct volcano, and former royal hunting ground that looms intimidatingly over the serene park below.
Both the Palace and Arthur’s Seat itself (part of Holyrood Park) attract thousands of visitors each year. By far the best route to the
top involves going down the Royal Mile through Canongate - a section of the iconic street that has resisted the tourist transformation that the High Street and Lawnmarket have succumbed to.
Some of the Mile’s best kept secrets lurk down here, if you know where to look.
Get away from the tourist filled centre of the Old Town and join us as we show you the secrets of the bottom half of the Royal Mile.
We emerge from the confined bottom of the street into the region of Holyrood, where we will discover The Queen’s official residence
in Edinburgh, the new Scottish Parliament, and Dynamic Earth - a museum to the fascinating geology of this unique area.
To get away from it all even more, our energetic and enthusiastic guide will lead you up to the summit of Arthur’s Seat. We’ll show
you some of the hidden treasures to be found up in the seeming wilderness you might otherwise miss, before stopping to enjoy the
most breathtaking view of all of Edinburgh.
The perfect way to get away from the busy centre of Edinburgh and let your imagination run wild atop Edinburgh’s mini-highlands.
ON THIS 5 HOUR TOUR WE COVER:
• Holyrood Palace
• Panoramic views from the top of Arthur’s Seat
• The site where the Act of Union was signed
• John Knox’s House
• Morocco Land
• Canongate Kirk
• Golfer’s Land
• The Scottish Parliament
• Dynamic Earth
• The site of the 17 coffins
• The ‘Oldest Pub in Scotland’
The Parks and Palaces Tour meets at 11am every TUESDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY in front of the Starbucks Café by the Tron Kirk on the High Street.
